Welcoming dinner

Thursday, March 24, 2016

We decided to give a welcoming dinner to our portuguese friends, Manuel, Catarina and Marta that came here to visit us. We invited some of the international students and Max to share the meal with us. Max cooked a very traditional Swedish dish for the entire group. Stroganoff made with Swedish sausages (Falukorv, I think that is the right name).  We made the desert, Baba de Camelo (Camel´s drool) a very sweet and soft mousse, easy and quickly to do. Denisa, a girl from Romania, was really kind and brought an amazing fruit´s cake.
Prepare a dinner is a way to make the others feels welcoming. It was so good to have them in here...and it is so nice when we are shore that, although the distance, we are not forgotten by our beloveds.

The Asian Dinner

Tuesday, March 15, 2016

The Asian students prepared a wonderful dinner for the all internationals students. Their table was full of delicious Asian dishes with sautéed vegetables, noodles, chicken´s meat, shrimps, pork…they had cooked so much! For desert they had fruits salad, lychees, Chinese tea and, spread along the towel, some candies typical from the Asian part of the globe.
At the end of the dinner we had to decide which country would be next to cook. To find out we had to participate in a competition. Each country would be a team. We had three balls and one tiny basket. The team with fewer points would have to prepare the next international dinner. The Turkish team loosed the game. So it is their time to being the next hosts.

The Cake of Love

Friday, March 4, 2016

My grandmother always told me the most important ingredient  in a cake is love. Love is what makes it so delicious!
Us three went to Natalia´s place to bake with her and Max a very special cake. It calls the Cake of Love, a typical swedish chocolate cake.
It was delicious and at the end of the night not a single a scrap remained in the plate.
Here you can find the recipe:

P.s. Since we are talking about love I wanted to share this picture with you. It was my beloved dad who send it to me...

Pastel de Nata

Saturday, February 27, 2016

We organized a dinner in our place. We invited some of the people from the international group to enter in our home and share with us a delicious meal.
Max, our university buddy, cooked a delicious pasta dish in the oven. The 3 portuguese (us) took care of the desert.
Portugal has an amount of amazing flavors. Our pastry is also really appreciate around the world. Lisbon is famous about a particular little cake. It calls Pastel de Nata. And it is simply delicious.
Juliana also brought a lovely Swedish cake, called Kladdkaka (also known as the Mud Cake).
Tasting new flavors and feeding habits it is obviously a big part of the ERASMUS experience. Lets not count the pounds during these three months. We have a lot of time to recover our good shape when we arrive to Portugal. But first, I´ll have to eat one Pastel de Nata…or maybe two…

The Picnic

Sunday, January 31, 2016

This Sunday we visited the farm that stays near to our place. It was snowing. Finally Sofia (Benny´s friend) could see some snow! Sofia was in Borås since Friday. It was so good to have her with us. We always like to receive new people in our home.  After a lovely walk around the animal´s farm we went to meet Juliana, our dearest Brazilian friend. We had planned a picnic in the park close to her house. Borås has a lot of woods to enjoy and to explore. The forest was beautiful. When we got there we found a large and frozen lake. Next to the water there is sauna center (something very typical among the Nordic countries).  In the frozen lake were two naked men. After being at high temperatures the body needs to cool down a little bit.
In one of the forest’s hills we fond a really good spot to slide into the snow with the stjärtlapp that I have bought in a second hand store. It was so fun! We lay down in a pile of snow and made lovely snow angels. I think I could never have snow in my city. Otherwise I would be always playing outside, in the middle of the white.
